Infernal Affairs
Hello, you've reached Raito's movie review blog. Most of what you'll find here is reviews of Chinese movies, because that's pretty much all I watch. :'D

Argh, I said it in the last post; "he makes all but the worst movies enjoyable". Now I have to eat my words, because this movie was one of the most pointless movies I've ever seen. And it wasn't really enjoyable at all. Between the constant switching between Engrish and Chinese and Thai and even a little Japanese, it was horribly distracting, and really ruined many an acting job. Andy's English was pretty good most of the time, which was surprising, based on what I've heard so far, but everyone else's, UGH. Throw in a few really bad dubs for a group of kids, and double ugh.

Then for the most boring fight scene in the history of fight scenes. The end was a drawn-out pointless borefest of a fight, lasting about 20 minutes wherein the "hero" gets beaten to a pulp for no apparent reason. Srsly. There was no reason for that fight, none whatsoever. It was simply there to draw out your emotions and turn a mildly interesting movie into a contrived tear-jerker. Except , that never works on me and I was just sitting there alternating between "oh I feel like sleeping" and "hey, nice legs, Andy."

Oh, I haven't yet talked about the point of this movie. There really wasn't one. A boxer gets released from jail and he finds out his lover is dead and he has a daughter. Then there's a hot Japanese nun, and some angst. And then he decides to do everyone a favor and fight the reigning Muay Thai champion to...Idk, prove he won't walk out? Prove he can finish his last fight? Kill himself out of guilt? Nevermind he already did 10+ years in prison. Nevermind that that once again leaves his daughter without a parent.

It's so nonsensical it's laughable. And did I mention how most of the acting was completely ruined by stilted English lines? I really have to remember that most of what LoveHKFilm thinks is good is really usually awful. This was seriously a terrible movie.  And the supposedly uplifting ending was gay too.  It's like, ok, so really he was just a guilty criminal who decided to kill himself because he felt so guilty.  That's nothing to admire, srsly.

Yeah, I'll stop now.  I hate bad movies.  It's like, I will never get those two hours back, thx. D:

You know a movie's no good when the only thing keeping you from shutting it off is the hottness of the lead actor (or actress, if you swing that way).
